Traffic jams form on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border
Traffic jams formed on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border after announcement of resignation of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Eyewitnesses informed 24.kg news agency.
According to them, about 30 trucks and 50 cars accumulated yesterday night at the border near Ak-Tilek-Avtodorozhny checkpoint.
«Vehicles moving from Kazakhstan are not passed. Truck drivers are standing there for more than three hours,» eyewitnesses said.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan confirmed the information about the congestion at the border. According to the state service, traffic jams are connected with the new rules introduced by the Kazakh side.
«Earlier, our Kazakh colleagues notified us about changes in the rules for checking heavy trucks. Kazakhstan has tightened the passage of trucks across the border. During the day, there were minor traffic jams at Chon Kapka and Ak-Tilek — Avtodorozhny checkpoints, but there are no traffic jams now,» the State Border Service told.
