Parliament member proposes to revise appointment of honorary consuls
Deputy of Parliament Kanybek Imanaliev offered to appoint honorary consuls of Kyrgyzstan after an approval from the Parliamentary Committee on International Affairs.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aibek Mamakeev announced the appointment of two new consuls to Thailand and Georgia. Kanybek Imanaliev was outraged that honorary consulates were opened in the countries with a small number of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The State Secretary noted that the consuls were engaged not only in resolving problems of citizens of Kyrgyzstan, but also in attracting investments and other issues.
Kanybek Imanaliev proposed to appoint honorary consuls only in cities where at least 10,000 Kyrgyzstanis were working, and to approve a candidate at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on International Affairs.
