FIFA plans to allocate $25 million for football development in Kyrgyzstan
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) plans to allocate $25 million for the development of football in Kyrgyzstan. FIFA intends to increase funding for the sport and offer national association $25 million for the next four-year cycle, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
The overall funding program could amount to $6.35 billion. It envisages an increase from the original plan, under which each of FIFA’s 211 member associations was to receive $10 million over four years.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sent a letter to the heads of the six continental football confederations. The final proposal could be considered and approved at the federation’s congress in March 2027.
FIFA also plans to allocate part of its World Cup revenues to developing football within national associations and confederations. More than $3.5 billion could be allocated from reserves increased due to the financial success of the 2026 World Cup with the participation of 48 teams.
FIFA expects total revenues for the 2022–2026 cycle, which includes the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, to reach approximately $15 billion, significantly exceeding previous projections.
