Uzbekistan is interested in construction of Kambarata HPP 1 — Amangeldiev
Uzbekistan, like Kazakhstan, is interested in construction of Kambarata HPP 1. The Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev announced on the air of Birinchi Radio.
«In recent years, work on construction of Kambarata HPP 1 has been underway... Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, our partners downstream of Naryn River, have shown great interest in this project,» he said.
The head of the Ministry of Economy noted that the cost of the project has already been calculated.
In 2023, the country’s authorities allocated $7 million to prepare for construction work.
Daniyar Amangeldiev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan will have to develop its industry to use the generated electricity. The Cabinet of Ministers has prepared a program for large-scale industrial development, including mechanical engineering, electronics production and the food industry, the official added.
A special council was created in 2024 to coordinate work within the framework of Kambarata HPP 1 construction project, which includes major investors such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB).
