First stage of modernization of International University nearing completion
The first stage of the PPP project to modernize the International University of Kyrgyzstan is nearing completion. The co-founder of the university, Ulan Kadyraliev, said that the cost of the first stage was about 100 million soms. He told about it at a forum on Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Bishkek.
The main goal is to create the concept University 4.0, focused on the integration of education, science and innovative entrepreneurship.
The key element of the project will be the reconstruction of a historical building in the center of the capital, which has been in disrepair for more than 30 years. After renovation, it will become an innovation hub combining educational programs, scientific research and business. In accordance with the Cabinet’s task of commercializing science, the new university approach will transform scientific achievements into real economic benefits.
«Today, more than 90 percent of university income in the country depends on contract education, while in developed countries this figure is only 10 percent. The remaining income comes from other sources,» Ulan Kadyraliev noted.
As part of the project, it is planned to create an intellectual and digital environment, scientific technologies, and a technology park. At the first stage, a startup center will be opened, which will later be transformed into a business incubator. The main strategy for returning investments is the successful commercialization of scientific projects. In the future, it is planned to create a co-working center and a business platform there.
The project was signed in 2023. Among the partners are the South KoreanSoonchunhyang University, the venture firm Kendala from Kazakhstan, and the Indian ISM EduTech Ltd. In addition, the International University of Kyrgyzstan has signed contracts with the High-Tech Park (HTP).
Modernization of the university is aimed at forming a new model of an educational institution, where science, technology, and business will work in synergy, creating favorable conditions for the growth of innovative projects.
