SCNS detects Illegal collection and sale of rare plant in Kyrgyzstan
Officers of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) stopped smuggling activities of foreign citizens and other persons engaged in the illegal collection and sale of roots of Macrotomia plant in especially large quantities. The press center of the SCNS reported.
According to its data, about 1,326.3 kilograms of plant material — Macrotomia with a total value of about 3 million soms were seized during an attempt to sell it.
In order to preserve and reproduce flora, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 28, 2024 banned for three years the procurement and collection of wild medicinal, technical, food plant materials of the following plant species — Macrotomia, Arnebia, Dictamnus L, Aconite and Aflatun onion (Allium aflatunense B.Fedtsch).
