Nisha Gupta, USAID’s Health and Education Office Director in Kyrgyzstan, noted that the agency is proud of its historic contribution of more than $50 million aimed at improving basic reading and math skills among children in primary schools in the republic.

«We continue to strengthen this cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and have allocated additional $18 million for the development of education. This mural symbolizes the progress achieved and will serve as a reminder of the work ahead,» she said.

The mural was painted by the well-known artist Dmitry Petrovsky (DOXA art group).

The USAID project «Okuu Keremet!» is designed to help improve learning outcomes in reading and math among more than 450,000 primary school students in the Kyrgyz Republic. It is being implemented jointly with the Ministry of Education in 1,679 schools across the country.
