Suzak border guards detained for systematic extortion from foreigners
The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has revealed facts of systematic extortion from foreign citizens and entrepreneurs by border guards at Bek-Abad-Avtodorozhny checkpoint in Suzak district of Jalal-Abad region.
According to the State Committee, military personnel actively facilitated the smuggling of goods across the state border for a monetary reward.
On June 26, the checkpoint shift supervisor, Captain A.O.A., and his subordinates, involved in the corruption scheme, were caught red-handed while taking money. Investigation is underway.
