Committee on Budget approves Melis Turgunbaev for post of National Bank head
The Committee of the Parliament on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy approved the candidacy of Melis Turgunbaev for the post of Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.
This issue will be considered at a plenary session of Parliament.
President Sadyr Japarov relieved Melis Turgunbaev of the post of Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, which he had held since March 2023.
What is known about Melis Turgunbaev
He is 42 years old. He graduated from the American University of Central Asia. Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor. Melis Turgunbaev is a graduate of the Sloan Masters in Leadership and Strategy Programme at London Business School (2022-2023).
Experience:
2002-2006 — Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, leading specialist;
2006-2015 — Gazprom Neft Asia, head of the Market Analysis and Pricing Department;
2015-2020 — Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, branch director;
2013-2021 — Kyrgyzneftegaz, member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Board;
2021-2023 — Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank, member of the Board of Directors.
Since March 15, 2023, he had served as Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Technical Supervision.
Melis Turgunbaev was born in Kyzyl-Suu village, Kara-Suu district, Osh region.
He is married, has four children.
