Domestic uranium production specialists return to Kyrgyzstan
Uranium production specialists are returning to Kyrgyzstan. Aisha Karpaeva, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC, said at a meeting of the Committee on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
She noted that the staff of Kara-Balta Mining Combine has uranium mining technologists.
«Uranium production is not different from others. Only in terms of radiation safety. Kyzyl-Ompol placer deposit is like any other gold deposit. There is an increase in uranium production now because the price is high. Nuclear power plants are being built. Our people who worked at Kazatom turn to us for specialists. Our specialists are returning,» Aisha Karpaeva said.
However, she could not answer how many Kyrgyz uranium mining specialists work at Kazakh enterprises.
Answering questions from deputy Chingiz Aidarbekov, expert and graduate of Moscow Nuclear University Esenzhan Musurmankulov admitted that to date he is the only specialist in uranium mining in Kyrgyzstan.
