Electronic bracelets for tracking to be put on accused in Bishkek
A pilot project «Electronic surveillance» as a new preventive measure was launched in Bishkek. The Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Such a system was first used by investigators of the Department of Internal Affairs of Oktyabrsky district.
«Electronic surveillance» is a modern tracking system that provides control over the location of the accused with the possibility of remote identification. The system is implemented through electronic bracelets, as well as through a mobile application on a cell phone.
The electronic bracelets are worn on the wrist and cannot be removed or reprogrammed. Any attempts to destroy the equipment activate a violation alarm.
One of the key benefits of the project is its effectiveness in combating domestic violence. The system can limit the radius of proximity of the accused to certain individuals or areas, providing additional protection for victims.
The electronic surveillance will provide constant tracking of a person’s movements 24 hours a day through the probation department’s monitoring center.
It is noted that such a measure will not be applied to defendants accused of particularly serious as well as serious violent crimes.
The Probation Department has also launched in pilot mode the system «Electronic Supervision» for persons who are clients of probation in the framework of execution of punishment or parole.
