Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to install meters on transboundary rivers
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to install devices that will allow to meter the exact volume of water consumed by both countries. Orda.kz media outlet reported.
It is noted that Kazakhstan will install meters on the territory of Uzbekistan, and Uzbekistan — in Kazakhstan. The countries will exchange information online. Experts from both countries are deciding on the place of installation of water metering devices. Negotiations are also underway with international organizations to attract foreign specialists to the project.
«The installation of meters will allow online monitoring of the volume of water consumed by both countries. Already in April we plan to start negotiations on the implementation of similar projects with other neighbors,» the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov said.
