Migrants transfer $259 million to Kyrgyzstan in January 2024
The influx of remittances to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $259 million at the end of January 2024. The National Bank of the country provided the data.
This is 55.6 percent, or $92.6 million, more than last year.
Compared to December, the figure increased by only $200,000. The majority of remittances came from Russia — $244.1 million. At least $7.9 million was transferred from other states to Kyrgyzstan, and $5.2 million — from the United States.
At the end of January, an outflow of funds was also registered in the amount of $56.4 million. Over the month, the figure decreased by $600,000. Compared to January 2023, it decreased by $1.6 million. The bulk of the money was transferred to Russia ($52.8 million).
The net inflow of remittances in January 2024 to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $202.7 million.
This is $94.3 million, or 1.9 times more than the 2022 figure.
At the end of last year, the volume of remittances to the country amounted to $2,706.1 billion. $561.2 million was transferred from the Kyrgyz Republic to other states. Net inflow is $2,144.9 billion.
