Donald Trump orders suspension of military aid to Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered a suspension of military aid to Ukraine, AFP, Reuters and other media outlets report, citing a White House official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
«The President has made clear that he is committed to peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is helping to resolve the problem,» the statement, cited by AFP, reads.
As Bloomberg and Fox News report, the pause will last until Donald Trump is convinced that Ukraine’s leadership is committed to peace.
«This is not a permanent termination of aid, this is a pause,» Fox News quotes a White House official as saying.
According to Bloomberg, the decision will be applied to all U.S. military equipment, including weapons in transit on aircraft and ships or waiting in transit areas in Poland.
