National Bank conducts first intervention in currency market in 2025
The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted the first currency intervention in 2025 on January 13.
According to the bank, $79 million was sold, including $40.2 million with settlements on the date of the transaction, and other $38.8 million — on a date other than the date of the transaction.
Since the beginning of 2024, the National Bank has conducted 26 transactions in the currency market. At least 13 of them were aimed at purchasing currency, which allowed to withdraw $369.35 million from the market. Other 13 transactions concerned sales, the total volume of which amounted to $675.65 million. For comparison, for the whole 2023 the bank sold $655.72 million on the currency market.
