Leader of Social Democrats party Temirlan Sultanbekov taken in for questioning
The leader of Social Democrats party, Temirlan Sultanbekov, was taken in for questioning. This follows from a live broadcast on social media.
Temirlan Sultanbekov recalled that, according to the law, a registered candidate cannot be held criminally liable or detained until the official announcement of election results.
According to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek, the investigative service opened a criminal case under Article 196 «Vote buying» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic against the Social Democrats party.
The presidential decree «On the dissolution of local councils and calling the elections of deputies of local councils» was issued on September 6. Elections of deputies of 33 city and 231 rural councils are scheduled for November 17.
