Police name reason for search at Social Democrats party headquarters
The Investigative Service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek opened a criminal case under Article 196 (vote buying) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Main Internal Affairs Department of the capital commented on the search at the headquarters of the Social Democrats party.
It is reported that today, November 13, an audio recording of a conversation allegedly between the chief of staff of the Social Democrats party I.K. and D.Ch. was posted on social media, where they discuss vote buying in the upcoming elections of deputies of local councils, which will be held on November 17, 2024.
«The Investigative Service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek opened a criminal case on the fact. The necessary investigative measures are currently being carried out. We will provide details later,» the department said.
The presidential decree «On the dissolution of local councils and calling the elections of deputies of local councils» was issued on September 6. Elections of deputies of 33 city and 231 rural councils are scheduled for November 17.
