Kyrgyzstan to start production of water meters in 2025
Water meters will be assembled in Kyrgyzstan in 2025. Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Almazbek Sokeev announced at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, the ministry is currently negotiating with a company that manufactures water meters.
«We need to manufacture meters in our country. Otherwise, when we import them, we won’t be able to fix them if they break. God willing, we will start assembling them next year,» Almazbek Sokeev said.
At the meeting, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev noted the need to install «smart» drinking water meters in every home.
Recall, officials said in February that Bishkekvodokanal would need 4.1 billion soms to install meters for all consumers. The City Hall initiated the adoption of regulatory legal acts that will oblige residents to install meters at their own expense. It was proposed to do this so that city residents would start paying according to the actual consumption and would not use water extremely wastefully.
