Court fines activist Aftandil Zhorobekov 70,000 soms
The court issued a decision in the case against activist Aftandil Zhorobekov. Human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova reported.
The court found the accused guilty under Article 327 «Public calls for the violent seizure of power» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The preventive measure was changed to a written undertaking not to leave the city until the verdict comes into force.
Aftandil Zhorobekov is the organizer of a peaceful campaign in defense of the flag. He announced a motor rally, which was supposed to take place on December 2, 2023, but the police prevented the participants and the rally did not take place. On December 9, the activist announced a peaceful assembly in the Maxim Gorky Park. He was detained and placed in the pretrial detention center No. 1 on the eve of the assembly.
